Five things to consider when choosing a vacuum cleaner

Henry the vacuum cleanerWith so many vacuum cleaners on the market today choosing the right one for your home or business can be a daunting task.

At River City Carpet Cleaning we want to make it a little bit easier for you with our top five list of things you should consider when buying a vacuum cleaner.

1. Type of home

If you live in a one-bedroom apartment and vacuum once a month then there is probably no point in buying the biggest and baddest vacuum cleaner on the market. However, if you live in a five-bedroom castle and are extremely houseproud you may want to invest in a machine which has a large capacity, and a large motor.

2. Bagless vs Bagged

If you don’t like emptying bags regularly, then a bagless machine could be the way to go. However, if you have allergies, then a bagged system will be much better for your health.

3. Pets

If you have pets in the house, then look for a vacuum that can specifically deal with pet hair. Most cheap vacuums will struggle with pet hair, and often aren’t worth the trouble that they’ll cause you in the long run!

4.  Floor types

When browsing for a vacuum, don’t just shop on price. Make sure that your chosen vacuum can clean your specific floor type – if you have hard floors, ensure that your vacuum can clean these thoroughly.

5. Check out online reviews

Once you have found a vacuum cleaner you like the look of don’t take the salesman’s (or woman’s) word for it – check out what other users think by typing in the make and model followed by the word review into your search engine. You will be surprised by how many vacuum cleaner enthusiasts are out there, and because they aren’t after your hard-earned cash you will be able to get an honest overview of the machine you are considering buying.
